Texas State: UT advanced to the NCAA Second Round sweeping Texas State 25-16, 25-14, 25-14 and improving to 23-0 all-time in First Round action ... junior middle blocker Jennifer Doris headlined the Texas attack with eight kills on .615 hitting, while senior All-America outside hitter Destinee Hooker connected for nine kills, and sophomore middle blocker Rachael Adams added seven kills and six total blocks.
TCU: Texas used a 21-kill, 13-dig performance by Senior All-America outside hitter Destinee Hooker to sweep past TCU 25-15, 25-14, 25-18 and advance to the NCAA Omaha Regional ... the win advanced Texas to an NCAA Regional for the fourth-straight season ... Hooker took 33 swings on the night, committed one error and hit .606, en route to her match-high kill total ... junior All-America outside hitter Juliann Faucette added 10 kills in the victory and senior All-America setter/opposite Ashley Engle posted 30 assists, nine kills, seven digs and hit .467.
ROAD WARRIORS
Texas is 26-1 on the season with 14 of its wins coming on the road ... the Horns are 11-1 at away games and 3-0 at neutral sites in 2009 ... the Horns own victories at Hawaii and Nebraska, which perennially rank in the top-two on the NCAA Volleyball attendance charts.
LONE STAR STATE DOMINANCE
Since head coach Jerritt Elliott arrived in Austin, the Longhorns have emerged as the dominant volleyball program in the state of Texas ... the Longhorns have posted a 71-7 (.910) record against in-state opponents during the Elliott era, including an 18-0 mark against Texas Tech and a 17-1 mark against Baylor ... Texas has won its last 44 matches versus in-state foes, last dropping a match on Oct. 16, 2004 to Texas A&M.
CLIMBING NCAA CHARTS
Several current Longhorns are leaving their mark on UT's postseason record book ... the senior class of Ashley Engle, Destinee Hooker and Heather Kisner have played in 15 NCAA matches in their careers and are tied for the top spot in UT history ... junior middle blocker Jennifer Doris' .463 career NCAA attack mark ranks No. 1, while Heather Kisner's 152 digs and Destinee Hooker's 199 kills each rank second.
