TEXAS QUOTES
HEAD COACH Gail Goestenkors
Opening statement: Congratulations to Oklahoma State. I thought that they played an exceptional game. I thought they controlled tempo from the tip, and I thought this was one of their best overall team efforts. It wasn't the Andrea Riley show, although it really was. Her stats weren't necessarily as gaudy with the shots she took, but she really got her entire team involved. I just thought they played really good team basketball and rebounded. We talked about how they would be playing very aggressively because they are fighting for their lives in the NCAA Tournament, and that they were looking for a signature win. It was a very physical game and a great battle. I thought they played like a team that was desperate for a win
On the hustle in the game: That was one of our keys to the game - to win all hustle plays. I really felt like they won most of the hustle plays. It's a little disheartening, because we take a great pride in our hustle and effort. They outhustled us tonight.
On Andrea Riley: We wanted to limit her touches. She makes so many great things happen when she has the ball, either with her scoring or her passing. They do a great job of getting the ball back to her.
SENIOR FORWARD Earnesia Williams
On the loss: It's not a shock, because of how we played when we started the game. We weren't aggressive on defense and we didn't execute on offense. When you don't do that, you lose games.
On Tegan Cunningham: We knew she was a shooter, but we just didn't get to her. We didn't play her for her tendencies, so she got a lot of open shots.
On looking past the loss: We're going to keep our heads up and our confidence up. We can't dwell on it now. We have other games to look forward to that we're going to look to win.
SENIOR FORWARD Ashley Lindsey
On her low post play: We were trying to have an inside-outside game. When the ball gets down to me, I always look to score. Playing the way I've been playing, is what I've been trying to do the past few games.
OKLAHOMA STATE QUOTES
HEAD COACH KURT BUDKE
Opening statement: I'm very proud of our team tonight. We had a five game stretch that nobody in America wants to play. My kids never gave up and they kept working. Texas blew us out the last time we played them and my team had something to prove tonight. I've had a lot of big wins in my life and this is as big as any of them.
On the strategy tonight: Absolute defense. Texas lit us up last time and they never gave us the chance to get started. I thought the girls understood the game plan very well and understand what we had to do well offensively and defensively to win the game. I couldn't be more proud.
On Andrea Riley: It was a great team win but when it comes to the end of it, we have a big time player and Andrea came through at a big time for us.
On Tegan Cunningham: Tegan has been coming along. She has really played well the last four or five games.
SOPHOMORE GUARD ANDREA RILEY
On her mindset tonight: I was really just thinking about the strategy to win the game. I didn't want to force anything because that is what the opponents want you to do. My teammates were hot so why stop going to them? Tegan Cunningham was lighting it up at the beginning at the second half. A lot of people stepped up tonight and I thought it was a really good team win.
JUNIOR FORWARD TEGAN CUNNINGHAM
On having opportunities to score: I think Andrea [Riley] drew a lot more defensive focus on her so that makes it easier for her to pass the ball. It's always good to shoot the focus on someone else even if it is for three minutes.
