Women's Tennis knocks off South Florida, 5-2

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas (4-4) held off a furious South Florida rally in the doubles session before winning four singles matches on its way to a 5-2 victory over the Bulls Sunday afternoon at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
UT fell at the first doubles slot but picked up victories at the second and third positions to earn the doubles point. Freshman Krista Damico and sophomore Maggie Mello teamed up for an 8-5 win at second doubles over Jessica Zok and Iciri Rai, and UT sophomores Amanda Craddock and Caroline Larsson held off Jessica Sweeting and Allyn Mueller in a tiebreaker at third doubles.
Larsson went on to record a 6-3, 6-3 win over Zok at second singles, and junior Sarah Lancaster added a 6-4, 6-0 win over Rai at fourth singles. Craddock dealt Natalia Guevara a 6-2, 6-3 defeat at fifth singles, and senior Marija Milic knocked off the Bulls' Mueller at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-3.
Texas resumes play on Saturday, March 7 when it hosts Texas A&M in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown in Austin.
