AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Rowing team, the youngest varsity sport on campus, enjoyed an old Longhorns tradition last week.
In honor of their Big 12 Rowing Championship, the Longhorns stood before the UT Tower as it was bathed in burnt orange lighting. All the UT rowers, along with UT President Bill Powers and Women's Athletics Director Chris Plonsky, posed for photos in front of the Tower.
It is UT tradition that the campus landmark glows burnt orange from top to bottom when a University of Texas athletics team wins a conference championship.
The Longhorns won the previous seven Big 12 Invitational crowns, but this year's event was the first official conference championship.
