Texas won one of four races vs. the top-ranked Cardinal, recording three runner-up finishes.
"We expected there would some hard-fought races today, and that was certainly the case," said Texas head coach Dave O'Neill. "Stanford got the better of us in the first three races, but it was great to get the win in the First Eight. This was good benchmark for where we stand, and we'll see each other again at NCAAs."
The First Varsity Eight won by a nearly three-second margin vs. Stanford, finishing in 6:19.20 while the Cardinal clocked in at 6:22.100.
"Our First Eight has been consistently good day-after-day, so the key for was to go out and do what they do every day. I give a lot of credit to our stern pair of Lucy Searle and Imy Grey. They're absolutely relentless and focused every stroke. It's fun to watch them race."
The Second Four began the morning with a runner-up finish to the Cardinal in 7:18.10. Stanford won in 7:30.50.
"The Second Four gave a terrific effort, but we were overmatched by a very strong Stanford crew. This was a new combination for us, and today was the first race for a couple of our freshmen. We should only improve from here."
The First Four put up a strong fight in their runner-up finish, finishing less than a second behind Stanford. Texas crossed the finish line in 7:18.00 while Stanford clocked in at 7:17.30.
"Our First Four took a little while to find their rhythm and were down a length at the halfway mark. I give them credit for fighting and closing the gap, but ultimately it wasn't enough. I was impressed with Alex Rollins at stroke seat as she's done a terrific job this year."
The Second Eight recorded a runner-up finish in 6:31.00 with Stanford winning in 6:34.90.
"Our Second Eight has improved significantly the last few weeks, but it wasn't enough to overcome Stanford. It looked like they were just a little bit better every stroke, so I'm proud of our crew for doing everything could."
