Capital Metro to offer 'Longhorns Express' bus routes starting on Saturday, Sept. 26

AUSTIN, Texas -- UT Athletics, with the help of University Parking and Transportation and UTPD, has worked closely with Capital Metro to provide fans with effective game day transportation alternatives.
Beginning on Saturday, for the Texas Football game against Texas-El Paso, Capital Metro is initiating the Longhorns Express -- two new routes that exclusively serve fans traveling to and from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
The Longhorns Express now exists in addition to the regular Capital Metro bus routes and public pay parking garages on and around the UT campus.
"We have made the commitment to insure that our fans have the most efficient options so they can attend our events," UT Men's Athletics Director DeLoss Dodds said. "This is very important to us, so we will continue to evaluate the system, build upon it and make it the very best anywhere."
The Longhorns Express will pick up fans at two locations -- Barton Creek Mall (2901 S. Capital of Texas Hwy.) and the Intramural Fields (51st St. and Guadalupe). The Barton Creek route will arrive and pick up at the corner of University Ave. and 21st Street. The Intramural Fields route will arrive and pick up at the corner of Dean Keeton and San Jacinto.
Cost for the Longhorns Express is $8 per person, and children 5 and under ride for free. Day passes for the regular Capital Metro bus routes can be purchased for $1.50 each.
Fans are encouraged to also take advantage of public parking areas around Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Garage and surface lot parking is available northeast of the stadium, as well as to the south off San Jacinto and Trinity St. State garage parking is $7, while campus garages cost $10.
