AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Kelsey Bolte scored 19 points, including hitting a 3-pointer that put Iowa State up for good in a 73-71 overtime victory over Texas on Saturday.
With 15 seconds left, Texas guard Erika Arriaran missed a layup and then post Cokie Reed lost control of the rebound as time expired.
After being behind 46-32 midway through the second half, Iowa State (15-3, 3-2) slowly chipped away at the deficit until Amanda Lacey's 3-pointer with four seconds left sent the game into overtime.
Lacey led the Cyclones with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Bolte hit five of her seven 3-pointers. Amanda Zimmerman added 14 points for Iowa State.
Ashleigh Fontenette and Brittainey Raven led the Longhorns (13-6, 2-3) with 18 points, and Fontenette went 4-for-6 from 3-point range.

Opening statement: Just congratulations to Iowa State, they did a great job; they did what was necessary, hung around until the end, hit some big shots, made some great plays and won the game. They stole one on the road, which is what you want to do in this conference. Very disappointed, obviously, on the other end. I thought we were doing a good job; we were up 14 in the second half, and I felt like we were ready to close it out. We just lost our focus, I thought, a little bit defensively. They hit some big shots, gained some confidence, gained some momentum, then it was war until the bitter end. Obviously there's some things we need to work on, specifically our defense, our focus and our rebounding.
On the final possession of overtime: Actually we had Erika, or AT was going to drive to the basket, and we had two shooters with her on the same side. I thought Kat was open, but Kat didn't get her shot off so I don't know if she felt like she wasn't open enough and she put it on the deck, so that changed things a little bit.
On defensive breakdowns: It came down to us being able to get one stop, one rebound and we didn't do that. I'm extremely frustrated. Great teams need to be able to make great plays whether it's offensively or defensively down the stretch and we didn't. They kept scoring.

On the finish: We're definitely disappointed, that's the main thing. We're going to go back to work and practice again, and we'll get better from this game.
On being upset: I'm pretty upset. I don't think words can explain it. It's over now so we have to move on to the next game.

On being frustrated at the end of the game: It had to do with just getting a few stops. Of course rebounding was critical for us at the end of the game, if we just lock down one of those rebounds I think this would have been a difference [press] conference.
On the defense against she faced: Usually scouting reports basically call out what each person is every day and so it's not anything new for us. We've all kind of had to adjust to what people have seen.

Opening statement: Certainly, couldn't be more proud of our team. I think what you saw today was kind of Iowa State at its finest -- grind it out, find a way to do things right. We hung in there against a really good team. Obviously we looked like we were about to get knocked out in the second half. Any time you beat Texas it's a great accomplishment, certainly here it's special. We've brought a lot of great teams into this building and haven't played very well. We played hard and played well. Certainly it helps to have two of the best guards on your team. That helps a lot too. I'm very excited about what happened and certainly proud of the effort from start to finish.
On the start of the comeback: Texas is a team that literally could've blown us out of the building. They really could've. They're that good. They were playing that well. We couldn't guard them. They were making everything. We challenged our kids and they challenged each other. To come back the way we did says a lot about the way we competed. We made some big shots at big times.

On the mood when the team was down by 14 points: We just told ourselves, "We're fine. We're still in this." We were on the verge of being blown up. We thought it was a possibility. So many Iowa State teams I've been on, we always come back. We always find a way to win. Coach puts us in the best situations. We make big plays at good times. Kelsey had some huge plays at post. We had the best rebounding game I think we've had all season.
