-The Texas Women's Cross Country team will travel to Waco, Texas to race in the 2010 NCAA South Central Regional Championship. The 6K race will be run at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course with a start time of 10 a.m. Central.
-Competing for Texas on Saturday will be seniors Allison Mendez and Christina Henderson, juniors Julie Amthor and Mia Behm, sophomore Laleh Mojtabaeezamani and freshmen Megan Siebert and Sara Sutherland.
-The Longhorns will look to qualify for the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships as a team for the first time since 2002 by placing in the top two. The top four individual finishers who are not on one of the top two teams will also earn spots at the national meet.
-Last year, the Longhorns finished fourth behind senior Betzy Jimenez and now junior Mia Behm who became the first Longhorn harriers to qualify individually for the NCAA Championships since 2003. Jimenez placed second overall to automatically qualify while Behm finished 11th and earned an at-large bid to the national meet.
-Texas last competed in the Big 12 Championships, which took place on October 30 at the Oklahoma State University Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Okla. The Horns placed fifth with 147 points behind behind Texas Tech (44), Colorado (53), Iowa State (79) and Oklahoma State (90). Mia Behm led the team with a 20th place finish in 21:00.41.
-In addition to Behm and senior Allison Mendez, who won two individual titles in 2009, Texas has added an impressive freshman class to its roster that has made a significant impact this season. Marielle Hall (Haddonfield, N.J.) was the top Texas runner in the Longhorn's fifth place finish at the ISU Pre-National Meet in October. Hall, who finished 18th at the 2009 Foot Locker XC Nationals, is joined by Dallas natives Megan Siebert and Sara Sutherland, who have been in Texas' top seven for much of the season.
