2010 Texas Relays Day Four Notes

- Texas Ex and 2008 Olympian Andra Manson won his second-straight men's high jump Saturday afternoon at the Texas Relays with a season-best leap of 2.31 meters. He cleared the height on this third and final attempt, and had some help.
The supportive crowd, which packed Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium to the limit helped clap Manson into rhythm during his approach.
"It's a great feeling," Manson said. "Anytime you can be at home and have the fans behind you, it's a blessing."
Manson hails from Brenham, Texas, and started competing here as a high schooler. He competed for the Texas Longhorns.
"This is just a great meet to open the outdoor season," Manson said. "This will get me rolling for the year. That's why I'm always here.
- Texas A&M won the men's 4x200 meter relay with a blistering time of 1:20.61, and that stands as the fastest time in the world. A&M also established a new Texas Relays record, bettering the time of 1:20.79 run by Texas during the 2003 meet.
- University of Texas sophomore Angele Cooper won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.52, and she now owns the fastest time in the country. The mark also beat her previous PR by almost two seconds.
- The Baylor men's team won the 4x100 meter relay in 39.18 to stake claim to the fastest time in the nation.
- Texas A&M's female foursome won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 42.56 to set a new meet record. LSU held the previous mark of 42.63, set in 2003. The Aggies also hold the nation's fastest time in the event. In addition, this stands as the fourth-fastest collegiate time ever and the fastest ever collegiate mark in April, bettering a 42.59 by LSU at Penn Relays in 2008.
- The women's javelin throw saw extremely tight competition, with the top three finishers all recording throws of at least 56 meters. Liz Gleadle from British Columbia won the event with a 57.84 mark.
- Oklahoma freshman Karen Shump won the women's shot put with a record-breaking throw of 16.95 meters. Shump broke her school record my more than half a foot. The previous record mark was 16.69 meters.
- Rice's Jason Colwick won a competitive men's pole vault with a 5.71 meter vault. This marks Colwick's third-straight pole vault victory at the Texas Relays.
