TEXAS COACH QUOTES
HEAD COACH Gail Goestenkors
Opening statement: I'm just happy to come away with a win. This was a game where we knew we were going to really focus on what we needed to do to get better. It was good to have Kayla [Brewer] back for her first game. We went with a bigger line-up more than we have in the past because we wanted to look at that. We know that is going to be important for us to have in the Big 12, so it was good to get a chance to get three bigs playing together at the same time. I was really impressed with the crowd. All those little kids were so nice to see, and it was nice to hear all those screaming voices cheering for us. It was just a great atmosphere for women's basketball. I am proud of the way we played.
On Kayla Brewer's shot: She has good range. We need our posts to be able to hit from about 15 to 17 feet just to draw people out. She's good from that area, Anne Marie [Hartung] is good from that area and Cokie [Reed] has done a nice job from that area as well. That's good for us and it is important for our growth.
TEXAS PLAYER QUOTES

On the team's offensive goals of the day: [The goal] was to attack the basket and be physical. We knew that they were going to come out and be physical with us, so we had to be physical right back at them.
SOPHOMORE FORWARD Kayla Brewer
On her first game back felt: It felt great to finally be out there with my teammates battling it out and working hard. It felt really good. This was a different atmosphere.
