Kabongo set to participate in McDonald's All-American Game on Wednesday

CHICAGO -- University of Texas signee Myck Kabongo (first name is pronounced Mike) is one of 24 players who will participate in the 34th annual McDonald's All-American Game on Wednesday, March 30. Tip time for the prestigious contest is slated for 9 p.m. Central at the United Center, and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN. Kabongo will compete for the West squad in the game. He is the 13th player in University of Texas history to compete in the prestigious All-Star game. Proceeds from the McDonald's All-American Game go to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
A 6-2 point guard from Findlay College Prep (Henderson, Nev.) who plays under coach Michael Peck, Kabongo is originally from Toronto, Ontario. He has helped Findlay Prep post a 28-3 record during the regular season, averaging 17.1 points, six assists and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Following Wednesday night's all-star game, Kabongo will join his Findlay Prep team in North Bethesda, Md. on the following day to begin competition at the ESPN RISE National High School Invitational. The eight-team tournament runs Thursday, March 31 through Saturday, April 2 at Georgetown Prep, with all games televised on the ESPN family of networks.
Findlay Prep, the No. 3 seed in the tourney, faces Dwyer (Fla.) in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, March 31. Tip time is set for 3 p.m. Central, and the game will be televised by ESPNU. Should Findlay advance, the team's semifinal contest is set for 4:30 p.m. Central on Friday, April 1 on ESPN2. The championship game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Central on Saturday, April 2 on ESPN.
