STILLWATER, Okla. - Texas senior Kathleen Nash recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Oklahoma State pulled off a 68-67 win on Saturday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Yvonne Anderson scored a team- and game-high 21 points in the loss to mark her fourth-straight double-figure scoring game.
With the loss, the Horns dropped to 18-12 overall and 7-9 in the Big 12 Conference. The Cowgirls finished the regular season at 16-13 and 4-12 in the league.
The Longhorns reclaimed a 40-39 lead at the 17-minute mark in the second half on guard Ashleigh Fontenette's first and only trey of the evening. The teams continued to trade points until OSU held Texas scoreless for a five-minute stretch and built a 54-48 lead. Down 59-50 with 2:40 on the clock, Texas capped off a 9-3 run when Anderson hit a three from near the right baseline with just 1:03 to play. Tiffany Bias answered back for OSU with a layup, and Anderson went to the foul line made her first shot when Toni Young fouled out of the game. Fussell claimed the rebound on Anderson' missed free throw, found Nash open behind the 3-point arc and her shot rimmed out. Down 64-60 with 41 seconds remaining, OSU made four-straight free throws to seal the victory.
Texas built an early 11-5 lead before OSU used a 15-0 scoring run to lead 20-11 with 7:54 remaining in the first half. The Longhorns - sparked by three 3-point buckets from Chassidy Fussell in the remaining time - chipped away at the deficit by limiting the Cowgirls to just nine additional points in the half. Fussell missed what would have been her fifth trey of the half with one second left on the clock and the Longhorns trailed 29-28 at the halfway point.
Fussell finished with 14 points, including 12 from 3-point range, and Fontenette added 11. Ashley Gayle and Kristen Nash pulled down nine and eight rebounds, respectively.
UT out-rebounded OSU 52-37, marking its 10th double-digit margin in the category this season.
