No. 25 Women's Tennis defeats Oklahoma State, 6-1

AUSTIN, Texas - No. 25 Texas (11-6, 6-2 Big 12) swept the doubles session and took five of six singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory over Oklahoma State (6-12, 2-5 Big 12) Friday afternoon at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
The Longhorns made short work of the Cowgirls at the second and first doubles positions and clinched the doubles point with a pair of victories. UT's Krista Damico and Aeriel Ellis raced out to a 3-0 lead on OSU's Nataliya Shatkovskaya and C.C. Sardinha behind a pair of service breaks and cruised to an 8-2 victory at second doubles.
At first doubles, UT's Amanda Craddock and Cierra Gaytan-Leach opened up a 4-1 lead with a pair of service breaks and went on to close out an 8-5 win over OSU's Kanyapat Narratana and Malika Rose to clinch the doubles point for the Longhorns. UT's Juliana Gajic and Maggie Mello finished off the doubles session by outlasting OSU's Sasha Belova and Leyla Simmons in a tiebreaker at the third position, 7-6 (4).
UT's Ellis dealt OSU's Belova a 6-4, 6-0 defeat at second singles to push the Texas lead to 2-0. Texas' Craddock followed shortly behind Ellis with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Sardinha at fourth singles, and UT's Gaytan-Leach clinched the Texas victory by posting a 6-2, 6-2 win over Sarah Meghoufel at sixth singles.
Texas' Mello tacked on to the UT lead at third singles, where she notched a 6-4, 6-2 win over OSU's Rose. The Cowgirls picked up a win at fifth singles, and Damico closed out the Texas victory with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Shatkovskaya at first singles.
Texas hosts No. 22 Oklahoma on Senior Day this Sunday (April 10) at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center. UT seniors Maggie Mello, Amanda Craddock and Caroline Larsson will be recognized shortly before the match. First serve is set for noon Central.
