Bispo wins bronze in 200m freestyle at World University Games

SHENZHEN, China - Texas senior Karlee Bispo won the bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle Tuesday evening on day three of the 2011 World University Games.
Bispo (Modesto, Calif.), who qualified fourth in the 200m freestyle preliminary round at 1 minute, 59.92 seconds, won bronze in the finals at 1:59.31. Spain's Melania Costa Schmid won the gold in 1:57.98, and New Zealand's Lauren Boyle won the silver in 1:59.19. The medal is the first for Bispo while representing the USA at an international meet.
Bispo is likely to compete on Wednesday as a member of the USA's 800m freestyle relay. The 2011 Big 12 Conference Women's Swimmer of the Year earned seven All-America honors last season and earned top-five finishes in all three of her individual events at the 2011 NCAA Championships in Austin.
