Series vs. Coppin State
Texas leads the all-time series with Coppin State, 3-0. The series dates back to a second-round matchup in the 1997 NCAA Tournament. The 10th-seeded Longhorns earned a trip to the Sweet 16 by edging the 15th-seeded Eagles, 82-81. The last two games between UT and CSU have been Texas victories played at the Erwin Center and decided by scoring margins of 20 points or more - 86-50 on Nov. 29, 2004 and 95-75 on Dec. 31, 2010.
EA SPORTS Maui Invitational
Monday night's contest between Coppin State and Texas is one of seven EA SPORTS Maui Invitational Opening Games preceding the Championship Round from Nov. 19-21. Seven of the eight Island Teams (Butler, Illinois, Marquette, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Texas and USC) host four Mainland Teams (Colgate, Coppin State, Elon and Florida Atlantic) in Opening Games at the Island Teams' home arenas from Nov. 9-13. Texas begins the Championship Round on Monday, Nov. 19 against host Chaminade.

- Texas debuted its 107th season of basketball with three freshmen in the starting lineup in a 55-53 win over Fresno State on Friday, Nov. 9. UT improved to 88-19 in season-opening games, including a 13-2 mark under coach Rick Barnes.
- Home Openers: Texas is 92-15 in home openers, including a 31-5 mark in the Frank Erwin Center (since the 1977-78 season). The Horns are 13-2 in home openers under coach Rick Barnes.
- McClellan's Second-Half Surge: Sheldon McClellan posted 18 of his game-high 20 points during the second half of Friday's win, including making all 12 of his free throw attempts in the final 20 minutes. He topped the 20-point mark for the third time in his career (34 games) and reached double figures in scoring for the 21st time.
- Freshman Impact: Six freshmen played in Friday's season-opener against Fresno State, including three starters. The newcomers accounted for 21 of UT's 43 total rebounds (48.8%), six of the seven blocked shots (85.7%) and 24 of 55 total points (43.6%). Guard Javan Felix led the freshman class with 10 points and nine rebounds on Friday.
- Defense and Rebounding: Texas held Fresno State to 35.6% FG shooting (21-of-59), including a 5-of-19 (.263) mark from three-point range in Friday's season-opening victory. The Horns also posted a +11 rebound margin (43-32).
- Under 40% FG Defense: UT held Fresno State to a 35.6 percent FG shooting (21-of-59) for the evening. Texas sports a 207-19 mark in the Barnes era when holding opponents to under 40 percent FG shooting. Since Barnes arrived in Austin, the Horns have held 226 of their 480 opponents to under 40 percent FG shooting.
- Freshman Cameron Ridley recorded three blocks to tie the Texas record for blocks by a freshman in a season-opener. He tied Damion James' mark set on Nov. 9, 2006 against Alcorn State.
- Sophomore Jonathan Holmes recorded career highs in rebounds (14) and minutes played (34).
McClellan into the Record Books
Sheldon McClellan went a perfect 14-of-14 at the free throw line during Friday's victory. The 14 free throws marked the most free throws made without a miss in a game in UT history (previous mark was 13-of-13 by J'Covan Brown vs. Arizona on March 20, 2011). He also went 12-of-12 from the stripe in the second half, setting a school record for most free throws made without a miss in a half (previous mark was 11-of-11 by J'Covan Brown in the second half vs. Arizona on March 20, 2011)
