Quotes: Texas vs. No. 15/23 Georgetown

Texas Coach Rick Barnes
Opening Statement: I am really disappointed in the lack of will and that we did not continue to fight. We talked over-and-over about turning the ball over. The way we turned it over and the decisions we continue to make and the fact that we don not do what we practice. Georgetown did not do one thing tonight that we weren't expecting and I don't understand. I have to do a better job of helping them understand -- they don't understand what goes into losing. If you understand the will to win then you won't make the same mistakes over-and-over again."
On what his team needs to improve: These guys are better. We are better than how we are playing. Obviously I am going to hold myself responsible for that. I know how hard we are working, but you come to a point in time where they are the ones that are going to have to execute it. In a 40-minute game not everything is going to go well. We don't have the winning attitude as a group yet that you need to have.
Georgetown Coach John Thompson III
On the Defensive effort:
"I thought we were attentive for the most part with the exception of foul shots and a few baskets in transition. I think they had to work for everything and that'S what we want them to do; we want them to earn their baskets. Our guys did a pretty good job of helping each other out today."
On the state of his team:
"We are a work in progress. I think that we're going to be much better than we are right now but with each passing day, the group is feeling a lot more confident. As a coach, you want to get to a point where you don't have to think about which players are in the game; you just take one(player) out and put another in, and we're getting there."
On winning the game:
"I think that it was a complete win. You come here and you win against a well-coached and talented team, they are young and still trying to figure things out but so are we. I'm happy to walk away with a win and we have an honest group of guys and they know we have a lot of room for improvement."
Forward Otto Porter
On his aggressiveness this year compared to last:
"The team and coaches want me to be aggressive and that is one thing I wanted to pick up coming into this year; to be more aggressive."
Forward Nate Lubick
On playing in Madison Square Garden:
"We're very familiar with Madison Square Garden and our conference tournament in here and like you said we play St. John's. We had some fans out tonight and I think that helped create some energy. It was pretty slow to start the game but being a little bit closer and being able to have some of our fans out here really helped us."
On the team's potential to improve:
"I think that's what makes this very exciting; the fact that we can get a lot better. There are a lot of things we can sharpen up on, on both sides of the floor. We're a young team and we don't really pay attention to those rankings too much but we are just very excited to get better."
