HOUSTON - No. 11 Texas (11-4) dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 31 San Diego (6-4) late Friday evening in a match relocated indoors to The Downtown Club at The Met in Houston. Inclement weather at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center prompted the match's relocation to Houston, where Texas also will take on Florida State on Saturday.
With the match beginning well after 9 p.m., the two teams elected to play singles matches, only. UT junior Ben Chen picked up the lone win for the Longhorns, as he defeated the Toreros' Victor Pugliese by a 6-3, 6-2 count at fifth singles. San Diego won courts one through four to clinch the victory. The remaining match at sixth singles was suspended.
Texas will meet Florida State on Saturday at 5 p.m. Central at The Downtown Club at The Met.

POST-MATCH COMMENTS
Texas head coach Michael Center
It was tough. We came down here and I thought San Diego played well and played better than we did. We had chances. We were up breaks in several first sets, and we didn't capitalize. We weren't able to turn the momentum around tonight the way we have this year. No excuses. It was a tough day for us. It took us about five-and-a-half hours to drive down here. We just didn't respond very well. But, this is a young team that has worked really hard. I expect them to turn it around tomorrow. I know they'll be excited to play tomorrow.
