GREENSBORO, N.C. - Just over a week after winning the three-meter synchronized diving competition at the U.S. Junior National Championships, incoming Texas freshman Meghan Houston claimed a U.S. national title in the one-meter event Tuesday at the 2012 AT&T National Diving Championships.
Houston (Austin, Texas) captured the one-meter national title with 274.80 points on five dives. She totaled a meet-best 61.20 points on her first dive, an inward one-and-a-half somersault in the pike position.
Houston won the three-meter synchronized diving title with 289.80 points on Aug. 5.
"Meghan is having a great summer season, having won the three-meter synchro at the Junior Nationals and winning her first senior national title on Tuesday," UT diving coach Matt Scoggin said. "Meghan is a strong competitor with a bright future, and we are excited she is a Texas Longhorn."
Houston will enroll at UT this month and will compete for the Longhorns this fall.
