AUSTIN, Texas - Texas-Ex Karlee Bispo (2009-12) registered a pair of impressive victories Sunday evening during the final session of the USA Swimming Austin Grand Prix.
Bispo opened the evening by claiming the 100-meter breaststroke in 1 minute, 9.37 seconds. The former Longhorn All-American and Big 12 Swimmer of the Year returned to compete in the 200m individual medley and out-touched Olympian Missy Franklin with a winning time of 2:12.49.
Bispo held a slight lead through the butterfly before Franklin regained the lead on the backstroke leg. Bispo reclaimed the lead on the breaststroke leg and held off Franklin down the stretch to seal the victory.
Notably, Bispo's winning time of 2:12.49 would have placed her 11th in the 200m IM preliminary round and into the semifinals at the London Olympics.
