Houston claims one-meter event at UT Diving Invitational

UT sophomore Meghan Houston chalks up the Longhorns’ second win in as many nights.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas sophomore Meghan Houston staved off a challenge from Miami's Kara McCormack and claimed the one-meter diving title Friday evening on day two of the UT Diving Invitational.
Houston (Austin, Texas) held a two-point lead over McCormack heading into the final round and successfully fended off McCormack with a strong final dive, a back one-and-a-half somersault in the pike position for 56.35 points. Houston won the event with 327.15 points while McCormack took second with 326 points.
Texas junior Emma Ivory-Ganja, who won the three-meter title on Thursday, took fourth place with 306.30 points. Senior All-American Maren Taylor placed fifth with 299.25 points.
The UT women conclude competition at the UT Diving Invite on Saturday with the platform event at 11:15 a.m. CT. Live results will be available at DiveMeets.com.
