AUSTIN, Texas – Texas freshman Murphy Bromberg cruised to victory and claimed the platform diving title Saturday afternoon on the final day of the UT Diving Invitational.
Bromberg (Bexley, Ohio), the platform champion at the AT&T National Diving Championships last August, won the event with 359.30 points and outdistanced her nearest competitor by over 50 points.
Bromberg totaled a meet-best 80.85 points on her third dive, a back armstand with three somersaults in the tuck position. Bromberg added 80 points even on her next dive, an inward three-and-a-half somersault.
UT junior Emma Ivory-Ganja, who won the three-meter title on Thursday, placed fourth with 280.40 points. Sophomore Kristina Hoffmann placed fifth with 245.45 points.
The Texas divers resume competition in mid-December at the USA Diving Winter National Championships in Austin. The UT swimmers host the Texas Invitational from Dec. 5-7 at the Texas Swimming Center.
