Taylor qualifies first for three-meter synchro finals at USA Diving Winter Nationals

UT senior All-American Maren Taylor is the top qualifier for Saturday’s three-meter synchro finals and Sunday’s three-meter individual finals.

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas senior All-American Maren Taylor qualified first for the three-meter synchronized diving finals Friday on day four of the USA Diving Winter National Championships at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Taylor teamed up with former University of Iowa diver Deidre Freeman to win the three-meter synchro finals with 309.90 points. UT sophomore Meghan Houston and former Ohio State diver Cheyenne Cousineau qualified fourth for the three-meter synchro finals with 267.30 points.
The women's three-meter synchro finals will follow the men's platform synchro finals, which begin Saturday at 10 a.m. CT. Taylor also will compete in Sunday's three-meter individual finals after qualifying first in the semifinals Thursday with 619.20 points.
All six Longhorn men who competed in the three-meter synchro preliminary round Friday advanced to Sunday's finals. Junior Will Chandler and Cory Bowersox led the UT men's qualifiers in sixth place in prelims with 365.28 points.
Freshman Mark Anderson qualified for Saturday's platform synchro finals, as did freshman Murphy Bromberg for the UT women. Bromberg will compete alongside Cousineau in Sunday's platform synchro finals after competing individually Saturday in the platform finals.
