Charles, Thomas and Tucker headed to Hawaii
Former Texas Longhorns Jamaal Charles, Earl Thomas and Justin Tucker have been selected to play in the Pro Bowl on Jan. 26, 2014 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
It is the third straight year Thomas has been selected, and the third time in the past four years for Charles. This is the first selection for Tucker, who is in his second season with the Baltimore Ravens. Texas has now had 41 different Pro Bowlers representing 23 different teams in a total of 97 appearances.
Charles ran for 1,287 yards for the Kansas City Chiefs this year, including a league-high 12 rushing touchdowns. He also had 70 receptions for 693 yards and seven TDs, and his 19 total TDs are also a league high.
Thomas had a career-high 105 tackles and five interceptions, along with two forced fumbles for the Seattle Seahawks. His 78 solo stops led the team.
Tucker, meanwhile, connected on 38 of 41 field goals (92.7 percent), including a career-long 61-yarder that proved to be the game-winner over Detroit in Week 15.
Texas has had at least one player selected to the Pro Bowl for 13 consecutive years, and at least three in seven of the past nine years.
The Pro Bowl will use a new format to select rosters this season. Rather than pitting the AFC vs. the NFC, a Pro Bowl Draft will be televised on NFL Network on Wednesday, Jan. 22, with Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders serving as captains.
The Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, Jan. 26, in Aloha Stadium in Honolulu and will air at 6 p.m. CT on NBC.
