AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas registered six top-five finishes to wrap up a productive three-day stint at its annual Texas Invitational at UT's Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Texas led off the night with the 1,650-yard freestyle, where junior Kaitlin Pawlowicz placed second in 16:12.39, good for a NCAA "B" cut. Junior Kelsey LeNeave took fifth place in 16:22.57.
Freshman Tasija Karosas logged a personal best in the 200 backstroke and took third place in the event at 1:54.32, enough for a NCAA provisional-qualifying mark.
Senior Samantha Tucker led the Texas contingent in the 100 freestyle championship final and placed fifth in 49.11. Junior Gretchen Jaques placed sixth in 49.35 while senior Alex Hooper took seventh in 49.54. All three times eclipsed the NCAA provisional-qualifying standard.
Texas-Ex and NCAA champion Laura Sogar won the 200 breaststroke in her home pool Saturday evening in 2:08.01. Freshman Madisyn Cox, who posted multiple personal bests at the Texas Invitational, led the contingent of current Longhorns and took fifth in 2:11.90.
LeNeave completed an impressive double after swimming the 1,650 freestyle and placed sixth in the 200 butterfly in 1:58.13, good for a NCAA "B" cut. Texas wrapped up the meet by placing third in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:15.93.
