- Series: Texas evened the season series, 1-1, and increased its all-time series lead against Iowa State, 16-10. Texas has won 10 of the last 12 contests against the Cyclones. Texas is now 10-1 against ISU at home, including five consecutive wins at the Erwin Center. The Longhorns are 14-5 against Iowa State during the Rick Barnes era.
- Overtime: Texas played in its fourth overtime game of the season (1-3 record). UT's four OT games is one shy of a program-record five set during the 2006-07 season. The Longhorns' three overtime games during Big 12 play this season ties a program record for overtimes during conference play. It is Texas' first double-overtime game since a 98-96 win against Texas A&M on Feb 28, 2007. Texas is now 42-48 all-time in OT games, including an 8-3 makr in double-OT.
- Starters: Myck Kabongo, Demarcus Holland, Ioannis Papapetrou, Jonathan Holmes and Connor Lammert started on Wednesday. It is the first time this starting lineup has been used this season, making it the 10th different lineup in 24 games. Kabongo and Lammert started for the first time this season, respectively. Holland started his first career conference game.
- Five Longhorns in double-figure points: For the first time this season five Longhorns reached double-figure points - Connor Lammert (14), Myck Kabongo (13), Ioannis Papapetrou (14), Sheldon McClellan (18) and Javan Felix (12).
- Trailing at half: Texas earned its first win of the season when trailing at halftime (1-9 record). Texas trailed Iowa State, 37-33, at the break on Wednesday. The last time Texas won a game when trailing at halftime was also against Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship on March 8, 2012.
- Home success: Since Rick Barnes arrived in Austin, UT has recorded a 207-28 (.881) mark at the Erwin Center, including a 97-20 (.831) record in Big 12 Conference home games.
- Close games: Texas is now 2-6 in games decided by six points or less.
- Over 50 percent shooting: Texas shot over 50 percent from the field for the third time this season with a 50.8 percent mark (31-61 FG). The previous two games were against TCU (.523) and UT Arlington (.500). The Longhorns are now 3-0 when shooting over 50 percent this season.
- Points in the paint: Texas out-scored ISU in the paint 40-to-24. UT's 40 points in the paint are a season high.
- Gray uniforms: Texas wore its gray Nike uniform for the first time of the season on Wednesday. The Longhorns have played 14 games in in white uniforms and nine in Burnt Orange this season.
- Myck Kabongo played in his first game of the season after serving a 23-game suspension, according to the appeal decision on Dec. 21 by the NCAA Division I Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement ... reached double figures in scoring (13 points) for the 19th time of his career (35 games) ... finished with seven assists in 35 minutes before fouling out in the first OT.
- Demarcus Holland made his first start since Dec. 4 (vs. Georgetown) and first career start in a conference game ... finished with two points on 2-of-2 shooting from the FT line.
- Connor Lammert made his first career start ... set season highs in points (14), FG made (six), minutes (40), blocks (three) and assists (four).
- Ioannis Papapetrou forced overtime by making a 3-pointer with one second remaining in regulation ... reached double figures in scoring (14 points) for the 11th time this season, including the sixth time in the last seven games ... shot 5-of-9 from the field to tie a season high for FG made ... led the team in minutes played with a season-high 43.
- Javan Felix reached double figures in scoring for the eighth time this season with 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting, including a season-high two 3-point FG made.
- Sheldon McClellan reached double figures in scoring (18 points) for the 21st time of the season and 41st time of his career ... scored all of UT's 10 points in the second overtime, including a 6-for-6 mark from the FT line in the last period ... Tied a season-high eight rebounds for the fourth time.
