Series: The Texas-Houston series (that dates back to the 1979-80 season) is now tied, 32-32. UT has won five of the last eight games against the Cougars. UT is 2-2 against Houston in the Rick Barnes era. Tonight's contest marked the first meeting between the two schools since Dec. 20, 2000 (71-60 UT victory at Hofheinz Pavilion).
UT in Postseason Play: Texas made its 35th all-time postseason appearance and first in the CBI. UT has registered a 40-37 all-time record in postseason play (34-33 in NCAA Tournament, 6-3 in Postseason NIT, 0-1 in CBI). Tonight's contest marked UT's first postseason contest that was NOT a NCAA Tournament game since the 1986 Postseason NIT Second Round.
Lone Star State Success: Texas has posted a 130-19 record against in-state foes during the Rick Barnes era.
Julien Lewis recorded career highs in points (25), field goals made and attempted (10-of-19) while playing 33 minutes. His previous career scoring high was 19 (twice). Lewis reached double figures in scoring for the 18th time this year and 28th time in his career (65 games).
Prince Ibeh recorded career highs in points (12), rebounds (11), blocks (5) and free throws made (4-of-8). He also tied his career high in field goals made (4-of-5) in 23 minutes (one shy of career high). He posted his first collegiate double-double. Ibeh's previous career highs were 8 points (at Oklahoma on Jan. 21), 9 rebounds (vs. Coppin State on Nov. 12) and 4 blocks (vs. USC on Nov. 20).
Myck Kabongo reached double figures in scoring (17 points) for the eighth time in his 11 contests played this year and 26th time in his career (45 games). He posted six assists without a turnover and tied his career high in steals (4).
Cameron Ridley was limited to 5 minutes played (all in first half) due to an upper respiratory infection.
