No. 28 Baylor edges No. 26 Women's Tennis, 4-3

WACO, Texas - Senior Aeriel Ellis, junior Elizabeth Begley and freshman Lana Groenvynck delivered singles wins for No. 26 Texas (13-10, 6-2 Big 12), but No. 28 Baylor (14-13, 7-1 Big 12) edged the Longhorns by a 4-3 count Friday evening at Baylor's Hurd Tennis Center.
Baylor won matches at the third and first doubles positions to clinch the doubles point. UT's Ellis evened the match and improved to 8-0 in league play with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kisialeva at second singles.
Baylor assumed a 2-1 lead behind its 10th-ranked Burgic's 6-2, 6-3 win over UT's 36th-ranked Addison at first singles. Groenvynck evened the match at two-all with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Baylor's Maria Biryukova at sixth singles.
Texas assumed a 3-2 lead when Begley rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-0 win over Baylor's Jordaan Sanford at third singles. But, the Bears claimed the remaining matches at the fifth and fourth singles slots to take the win.
BU's Alex Leatu evened the match at three behind a 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 win over UT's Lina Padegimaite at fifth singles. At fourth singles, Baylor's Kiah Generette held a 6-4, 5-2 lead over UT's Scott, but Scott broke Generette's serve and held serve to pull within 5-4. Generette fought off a break point in the final game and held serve to win the match.
Texas wraps up the regular season on Sunday at TCU. UT has earned a first-round bye at the Big 12 Championship that gets underway April 25 in Norman, Okla.
