Non-conference calendar highlighted by a home contest against Stanford, away matchup at Tennessee and neutral-site tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Women's Basketball team will play host to Stanford, visit another perennial power in Tennessee and travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands for a tournament over the Thanksgiving holiday, the program announced Tuesday in releasing its 2013-14 non-conference schedule.
The Longhorns' marquee home matchup against the Cardinal will take place Nov. 23 at the Frank Erwin Center. Stanford advanced to the 2013 NCAA Round of 16 before suffering a loss at the hands of Georgia.
UT will later face the Tennessee Lady Vols Dec. 8 at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. Tennessee reached the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual national runner-up Louisville.
Prior to the tilt in Knoxville, Texas will travel to St. Thomas to compete in the Paradise Jam Tournament and will face off against Syracuse (Nov. 28), Texas A&M (Nov. 29) and Memphis (Nov. 30). The Longhorns have participated in the tournament twice over its 13-year history, the last time coming in 2009.
UT's other away matchup will take place Nov. 19 when the Horns take on New Mexico in Albuquerque.
In addition to Stanford, the Longhorns' home slate also includes games against UTSA in the Nov. 10 season-opener, Texas State (Nov. 13), Arkansas-Little Rock (Dec. 4), Sam Houston State (Dec. 15), Northwestern State (Dec. 21) and Idaho (Dec. 28).
A home exhibition contest against Midwestern State (Oct. 31) will serve as a precursor to the Longhorns' 40th season.
The Big 12 Conference portion of the 2013-14 schedule, which will kick off after the first of the new year, will be announced at a later date this summer.
Season tickets are currently available for renewal by past season-ticket holders. New season-ticket orders are also being accepted at this time. All season-ticket requests are filled according to UT Athletics priority policies.
