Gray earns national recognition for performance vs. Kansas State

Texas running back Johnathan Gray picked up a pair of national accolades for his performance against Kansas State when he was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award and College Football Performance Awards honorable mention player of the week.
Gray became the first Texas player to rush for more than 100 yards against Kansas State, racking up 141 on 28 carries to lead the Longhorns to a 31-21 win. The sophomore leads the team and ranks third in the Big 12 with 87.5 rushing yards per game.
Against Kansas State, Gray set career highs with his 141 yards and 28 attempts, while matching a career best with a pair of touchdowns. His touchdown runs came from 21 yards out in the second quarter and 15 yards in the third quarter.
Gray's 61 yards on 13 carries on first down helped the Texas offense stay ahead of the chains and generate 452 yards of offense on the night. Of his rushing yards, 102 came in the second and third quarters as the Horns dealt with losing starting quarterback David Ash and maintained their double-digit lead in the game.
Gray became the 49th player in UT history to reach the 1,000 rushing yard mark. He currently has 1,051.
