AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Athletics recently announced the hiring of Roy Shick, who joins the Longhorn Foundation as the Senior Associate Athletics Director of Development.
Shick has a robust history of work with intercollegiate athletics, and since 2004 has held numerous development roles. Shick comes to Texas Athletics from the University of Washington, where he most recently served as Associate Athletic Director for Advancement. In that role, he oversaw the Tyee Club—the primary fundraising unit for Washington Athletics—as well as endowment and planned giving, premium seating and ticket sales campaigns, stewardship and events, and campus collaboration.
"Roy's diverse experience with intercollegiate athletics and development add a vital dynamic to the Longhorn Foundation's leadership team," said Men's Athletics Director Steve Patterson. "As we transition to a philanthropic fundraising model and move away from the transactional nature of business, Roy will be key in keeping all our units focused and telling our story."
In his role as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development, Shick will manage the department's philanthropic fundraising activities, including the annual fund, major gifts, principal and planned giving, and special events with the goal of maximizing revenue to Texas Athletics.
