• LOOKING TO MAKE HISTORY: The Longhorns will be looking for their first victory in program history against the AP's top-ranked team. Since the AP began its poll in 1949, UT is 0-7 against No. 1 teams.
• DEFENSE AND REBOUNDING: Texas has held each of its first seven opponents to below 60 points AND 37% FG shooting. The Horns also have outrebounded their opponents in six of their first seven games and sport a +13.9 rebound margin (44.9-31.0) entering Friday's contest.
• TURNER SEES DOUBLE: Freshman forward Myles Turner recorded his second double-double of the year with his 18-point, 10-rebound and five-block effort in Tuesday's win against UT Arlington. Turner leads the team in blocks (23, 3.3 bpg) and ranks second on the squad in scoring (12.1 ppg) and rebounding (7.1 rpg).
KENTUCKY SERIES INFO
• Friday's contest marks the second meeting between Texas and Kentucky.
• In the only previous meeting (Nov. 21, 1993), then-No. 5 Kentucky recorded an 86-61 victory in the opening round of the Maui Invitational (Maui, Hawaii).
UT ARLINGTON POSTGAME NOTES
• The Horns tied a single-game record for most blocked shots (13). UT previously blocked 13 shots vs. UTSA on Dec. 29, 2004 and vs. Cal on Nov. 15, 2000.
• Texas blocked eight shots during the first half, just one shy of the school record for most blocks in a half (9, twice).
• UT limited UT Arlington to 53 points on 36.4% FG shooting (20-of-55).
• The Horns were 22-of-27 (.815) from the free throw line, while UTA was 6-of-9 from the stripe.
• UT posted a +27 rebound margin (52-25). This marked the fifth time in the first seven games that Texas has recorded a double-digit rebound advantage. The Horns had more offensive rebounds (28) than UTA had total boards (25).
• Jonathan Holmes tied his career high in rebounds (16). He reached double figures in rebounding for the second time this year and 11th time in his career (102 games). Holmes also tied his career high in blocks (three).
• Myles Turner registered his second double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) of the year. He set a season high in free throws made (14-of-17). Turner also had five blocked shots (one shy of his career high), marking the third time in the first seven games that he has blocked at least five shots.
