• Taylor on a Roll
Freshman point guard Isaiah Taylor has averaged 25.0 points per game while converting 17-of-32 (.531) field goals and 15-of-16 (.938) free throws in 31.5 minutes per game over the last two contests. Taylor had a career-high 27 points at No. 24/23 Baylor (Jan. 25) before posting a game-high 23 points in Saturday's win against No. 6/7 Kansas.
• Holland Cleans the Glass
Sophomore guard Demarcus Holland tied his career high with 11 rebounds (five offensive) during Saturday's win against No. 6/7 Kansas. This marked the third time this year that Holland had grabbed at least 10 boards in a game. For the year, the 6-2 guard ranks third on the team in rebounding (5.2 rpg).
• Block Party
Texas recorded 12 blocked shots in Saturday's win against No. 6/7 Kansas. This was one shy of the school's single-game record and tied the UT record for most blocks in a Big 12 game (fifth time with 12 blocks in league play). UT has recorded double digits in blocks a total of three games this year and leads the Big 12 in blocked shots (6.7 bpg).
TEXAS VS. TCU
• Tuesday's contest marks the 165th meeting between Texas and TCU, and the fourth as Big 12 Conference opponents.
• The Longhorns hold a 102-62 lead in the all-time series and have won seven straight and 11 of the last 12 meetings.
• The Horned Frogs hold a 42-36 advantage in games played in Ft. Worth.
• As a former Southwest Conference member, TCU is Texas' fifth most-common opponent in program history.
• Texas won the first 11 contests of the series, a mark that is tied for the longest UT winning streak against an opponent. The Longhorns have five winning streaks of eight games or more in the all-time series against the Horned Frogs.
• Texas has eight games with 100+ points against TCU.
NIGHT AND DAY
Through 21 games last year, the Longhorns had posted a 10-11 overall record, including a 2-6 mark in Big 12 Conference play. This season, the Horns are off to a 17-4 start, including a 6-2 mark in league play.
BUILDING A SOLID RESUME
The Longhorns have posted a 5-2 record against AP Top 25 opponents this year. UT's resume includes road wins against No. 14 North Carolina (86-83) and No. 24 Baylor (74-60) and home victories against No. 8 Iowa State (86-76), No. 22 Kansas State (67-64) and No. 6 Kansas (81-69).
A CHECK OF THE POLLS
Texas is ranked No. 15 in the most recent Associated Press poll (Feb. 3) and No. 18 in the most recent USA Today Coaches poll (Feb. 3). During the Rick Barnes era, the Horns have spent 177 weeks in The AP Top 25, including 84 in the Top 10.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
• Texas has defeated four consecutive AP Top 25 opponents in four consecutive games for the first time in school history (No. 8 Iowa State on Jan. 18, No. 22 Kansas State on Jan. 21, at No. 24/23 Baylor on Jan. 25, No. 6 Kansas on Feb. 1).
• The Longhorns became just the second team in NCAA Division I since the 1996-97 season to record four straight wins against AP Top 25 teams in four consecutive games. Kansas accomplished the feat earlier this year, while North Carolina achieved the milestone in 1996-97.
• UT tied a school record by winning its fourth consecutive game against an AP Top 25 opponent. The Longhorns won four straight (in a five-game span) against AP Top 25 opponents during the 2010-11 season (No. 11 Texas A&M on Jan. 19, at No. 2 Kansas on Jan. 22, No. 11 Missouri on Jan. 29, at No. 16 Texas A&M on Jan. 31).
• When UT faced No. 6 Kansas last Saturday, it marked the first time in program history that the Longhorns had played four consecutive games against AP Top 25 foes.
• This marks the first time Texas has defeated two AP Top 10 opponents at home in a season since the 2002-03 Final Four year. UT defeated No. 9 Oklahoma State (78-65) on Feb. 1, 2003. Texas also defeated No. 5 Oklahoma (67-61) on Feb. 10, 2003.
