Women's Tennis falls to Oklahoma State, 4-1 in Big 12 semifinals

All-America sophomore Breaunna Addison chalks up her 10th straight victory.
FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas All-America sophomore Breaunna Addison notched her 10th straight singles win, but second-seeded Oklahoma State (15-7) emerged with a 4-1 victory over third-seeded Texas (12-12) Saturday in the semifinals of the Big 12 Championships. The Cowgirls advance to Sunday's final where they will meet top-seeded Baylor.
Oklahoma State led off the match with wins at the third and first doubles positions to win the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead. UT's Addison and Elizabeth Begley held match points over OSU's Viktoriya Lushkova and Katarina Adamovic at first doubles, but the match was suspended upon completion of the match at second doubles.
The Cowgirls pushed their lead to 2-0 behind Carla Tur Mari's 7-5, 6-1 win over UT's Pippa Horn at fifth singles. OSU took a 3-0 lead behind Kanyapat Narratana's 6-1, 6-4 win over Texas freshman Ratnika Batra at third singles.
Three of the four remaining contests progressed to third sets, and UT's Addison thwarted the effort of OSU's 44th-ranked Lushkova to force an extra set. Addison cruised to a 6-2 first-set win over Lushkova at first singles.
Lushkova broke Addison for a 5-4 second-set lead, but Addison broke Lushkova's serve to prolong the set. Lushkova broke once more, and Addison followed suit to force a second-set tiebreaker. Lushkova saved one match point, but Addison delivered on the ensuing point to put away a 6-2, 7-6 (5) win.
Shortly thereafter, OSU's Maria Alvarez finished off a three-set win over UT's Lina Padegimaite at sixth singles to close out the Cowgirls' 4-1 win. The remaining matches at second and fourth singles were suspended.
Texas awaits the NCAA Championships selection announcement Tuesday afternoon.
