In addition to Texas, three of the women's teams are nationally ranked - No. 6 Kentucky, No. 15 Baylor and No. 25 Stanford. On the men's side, Baylor is also 15th and Kentucky comes in 21st. Schools are traveling a varying number of athletes. There will also be a handful of unattached competitors in the field.
The Longhorns are scheduled to have 37 men and 37 women competing in the final regular season meet with the goal to improve on times and/or marks for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships which is set for May 16-18 in Lubbock, Texas.
"This will be our final tune-up heading into the championship season," head coach Mario Sategna said. "This meet will also be the last for our seniors, they are looking forward to a great compeition. At this point in the year it is not about doubling or tripling up on events, it is about fine tuning a few things. This is a busy week as it is the last week of classes, next week we start with final exams, which we have to be mindful of."
The team will recognize its seniors at 4:30 p.m., prior to the start of the running events.
"This is a special time for the seniors," Sategna said. "There is no doubt about that. For every one of these young men and women who have spent the last four years at Texas, you walk out of those locker rooms and step out to one of the greats universities in America. This is one of the last times that they will get to wear the burnt orange with a great crowd with great competitiors from all across the country."
