Offensive lineman Donald Hawkins was signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Saturday after the conclusion of the 2014 NFL Draft.
Hawkins spent the last two seasons with the Longhorns, starting all but two games at left tackle.
A native of Tunica, Miss., Hawkins earned 2013 first team All-Big 12 honors from the San Antonio Express-News and second team accolades from the Associated Press, the league's coaches and Athlon after starting all 13 games. He aided the offense in ranking No. 36 nationally in rushing (196.2 yards per game) and was a key reason the offensive surrendered just 16 sacks (1.3 pg), which ranked tied for 17th fewest in the FBS.
In 2012, the transfer from Northwest Community College (Miss.), played in 12 games, including 11 starts. The Longhorns had the 23rd-best scoring offense in the nation (35.7 ppg) and allowed just 4.1 tackles for loss per game (No. 3 in the FBS) and 1.23 sacks (22nd in FBS).
Hawkins will join former UT linebacker Emmanuel Acho on the Philadelphia roster. Acho spent last season with the Eagles after one year in Cleveland.
