Texas Football won its fourth National Championship and capped off a perfect season with its 41-38 victory against UCS in the 2006 Rose Bowl.
That epic game, which featured the top two teams in the country and many future NFL players, will be chronicled in NFL Network's 'A Football Life' on Friday at 8 p.m. Central. The one-hour, NFL Films-produced documentary focuses on the game, as well as the season-long anticipation which preceded it.
The game pitted the top-ranked Trojans (12-1) vs. the second-ranked Longhorns (13-0). USC built a 38-26 lead with less than seven minutes left, but Vince Young led Texas to the thrilling come-from-hind win by tallying 467 total yards of offense, including the game-winning 8-yard TD run with 19 second left.
The 2006 Rose Bowl: A Football Life features sitdown interviews with Young, former Texas head coach Mack Brown, former USC players Matt Leinart, LenDale White and Dwayne Jarrett, actor and Texas alumnus Matthew McConaughey, musician and USC fan Snoop Dogg. The episode also includes Leinart and Young reuniting at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Emmy-nominated actor Josh Charles narrates.
