Brown to participate in 2015 Quicken Loans All-Star Football Challenge

Former Longhorns defensive tackle is one of 15 who will take part in skills competition, which is set for Friday
Former Texas defensive tackle Malcom Brown will participate in the 2015 Quicken Loans All-Star Football Challenge.
The 17th annual skills competition is scheduled to air at 5 p.m. Central Friday on ESPN2. Encores of the two-hour show will air on ESPN at 2 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 3 p.m. on April 26.
Brown is one of 15 former college players expected to participate. He will compete in the Linemen Strength Challenge against Andrus Peat of Stanford and La'el Collins of LSU.
A native of Brenham, Texas, Brown led the Longhorns in tackles for loss (15) and sacks (6.5), becoming the first defensive tackle to lead both categories in a season since Tony Degrate in 1984. He also led the team in forced fumbles (2), and tied for first in QB pressures (8), while recording 72 tackles.
He helped the Longhorns rank 25th in the FBS in total yards allowed (348.5 per game), 11th in passing defense (184.2 ypg) and seventh in yards allowed per play (4.68).
This season, Brown became the 47th player in UT history to earn consensus first-team All-America honors. He was also a finalist for both the Nagurski Trophy, honoring the nation's top defensive player, and the Outland Trophy, honoring the nation's top interior lineman.
Brown, a junior who made himself eligible for the 2015 NFL Draft on Jan. 8, was the eighth defensive tackle in UT history to claim consensus first team All-America, joining Rodrique Wright (2005), Casey Hampton (2000), Degrate (1984), Kenneth Sims (1980-81), Steve McMichael (1979), Brad Shearer (1977) and Scott Appleton (1963). He received first-team accolades from the Football Writers Association of America, the Associated Press and Sporting News.
Other events in the all-star challenge include QB Accuracy Competition, Hands Competition, Obstacle Course and Speed Kickers. The players will also be divided into three teams for a competition.
