NEW YORK — Former University of Texas standouts LaMarcus Aldridge (Portland Trail Blazers) and Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder) were both named 2015 NBA All-Star reserves by a vote of Western Conference head coaches, the NBA announced Thursday evening.
This marks the fourth consecutive year in which the two former Longhorns have competed in the NBA All-Star Game. Aldridge will make his fourth consecutive trip to the NBA All-Star Game (2012-15), while Durant will appear in his sixth straight All-Star contest (2010-15).
Aldridge is averaging a team-best 23.6 points and 10.2 rebounds to go with 1.9 assists and 1.2 blocked shots in 40 games this year for the Trail Blazers (32-14). One of just three players averaging 23 points and 10 rebounds per game in the league, Aldridge was named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week for the weeks ending Dec. 7 and Dec. 21, respectively. He is the third player in franchise history to be selected as an All-Star four times, joining Clyde Drexler (8) and Sidney Wicks (4).
The reigning Kia NBA Most Valuable Player, Durant is averaging 25.6 points on 51.9% shooting from the field, 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 33.1 minutes per game in 21 games (all starts). Durant is the all-time leader in All-Star Game scoring average (30.6 ppg). He is the first player in All-Star history to score 30 or more points in four consecutive All-Star games. Durant recorded a game-high-tying 38 points and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes during last year's All-Star Game in New Orleans.
The 64th NBA All-Star Game will be televised nationally on TNT from Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday, Feb. 15.
