No. 19/20 Men's Basketball falls 83-60 at No. 20/19 Baylor

Taylor posts first career double-double with 16 points and career-high 10 assists.
WACO, Texas – Isaiah Taylor recorded his first career double-double with 16 points and a career-high 10 assists, while Cameron Ridley posted his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds, but the No. 19/20 Longhorns could not overcome a cold start and lost to the No. 20/19 Baylor Bears, 83-60, at the Ferrell Center on Saturday evening.
Jonathan Holmes led Texas (14-7, 3-5 Big 12) with 17 points, including 13 in the second half, and finished with six boards. Taylor matched a career-high in minutes with 38 and committed just one turnover. Taylor has averaged 16.5 points and 6.3 assists over the last four contests.
The Longhorns shot .386 (27-of-70) from the field, including 5-of-26 from deep, while Baylor (16-5, 4-4 Big 12) shot 48.4 percent from the field and 12-of-22 from beyond the arc.
Texas opened the contest missing its first 11 shots, while Baylor started 5-of-5, jumping out to a 12-0 start. The Bears continued their hot streak and pushed the lead to 23-9 with 11:30 remaining.
Texas would respond with a 15-5 run to pull within four, 28-24, with 4:16 left in the half. After starting 8-of-8, the Texas defense held Baylor to 2-of-19 shooting in that stretch. The Bears would make their last three shots in the final two minutes to take a 39-27 lead at the half.
Four Bears reached double figures in scoring, with Kenny Chery leading the way with 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 5-of-7 from deep.
Texas returns home to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Central at the Frank Erwin Center, and the game will be nationally televised on Longhorn Network.
