Texas Athletics announces $10,000 half-court shot promotion at Texas Tip-Off

First 200 eligible UT students receive a raffle ticket for a chance to take a shot.
On Wednesday, Oct. 21, one lucky University of Texas student will have the opportunity to take the American Campus Communities Half-Court Shot for a chance to win $10,000 at the inaugural Texas Tip-Off . The first 200 eligible UT students will receive a raffle ticket and one contestant will be randomly selected to take the shot during the second half of Wednesday's scrimmage at Gregory Gym. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The $10,000 shot is one of many exciting events taking place during Texas Tip-Off. The first 2,500 fans will receive T-shirts as they enter the building and the crowd will be split evenly in burnt orange and white. In-arena emcees, a DJ, the Longhorn Band, Texas Cheer, Texas Pom, Hook 'Em and the YP Hype Squad will all create an electric environment at Gregory Gym for Head Coach Shaka Smart and the 2015-16 Men's Basketball team.

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
BEFORE PROMOTION
Promotion contestant will be selected as follows: One (1) raffle ticket shall be randomly drawn from all raffle tickets distributed to the first 200 University of Texas at Austin students at the Texas Tip-Off on Wednesday, Oct. 21st at Gregory Gym. The person holding the announced numbered raffle ticket shall become the insured grand prize contestant. If the contestant does not wish to participate or is otherwise disqualified, another raffle ticket will be randomly drawn and the process shall be repeated. Contestant will not be chosen more than two (2) hours prior to the start of the promotion. The individual selected CANNOT choose another person to participate on his/her behalf.
The following classes of people shall be INELGIBLE to participate:
- Current or former professional or semi-professional basketball players and coaches who have played or coached at that level anywhere in the world.
- Current or former collegiate or junior collegiate basketball players and coaches who have played or coached at that level anywhere in the world within the past five (5) years.
- Current or former collegiate or junior collegiate club basketball players and coaches who have played or coached at that level anywhere in the world within the past five (5) years.
- Current or former high school basketball players and coaches who have played or coached at that level anywhere in the world within the past five (5) years.
- Current or former Olympic basketball players and coaches who have played or coached at that level anywhere in the world within the past five (5) years.
- Any person actively participating in the sporting event/tournament associated with this promotion.
- Current or former employees, family members, agents, successors, or assignees of Texas Athletics, IMG College-Longhorn Sports Marketing, or any promotional agency involved with this promotion.
Contestant shall not be permitted any practice, warm-up, or qualifying shots, at anytime after his/her notification of participation in the promotion until the actual prize shot.
Contestant must agree to all rules and regulations included in the Contestant Agreement and sign it immediately after notification of participation.
DURING PROMOTION
Contestant shall not be permitted any practice, warm-up, or qualifying shots, at any time prior to the actual prize shot.
In order to qualify for the grand prize ($10,000), an eligible contestant must shoot a regulation basketball, through a regulation basketball hoop placed not less than ten (10) feet above the floor, and successfully make a shot from BEHIND THE HALF COURT LINE: MINIMUM FORTY-THREE (43) FEET.
All Distances are measured from the plane of the face of the backboard.
No part of the contestant's body or clothing may come in contact with the demarcation lines/spots prior to releasing the ball. Any such contact shall constitute a foul and the shot will be considered missed.
