Men's Tennis signs Yuya Ito to National Letter of Intent

Head coach Michael Center welcomes highly-regarded Japanese standout Yuya Ito next fall.
AUSTIN, Texas – University of Texas head men's tennis coach Michael Center announced Thursday the signing of Yuya Ito of Japan to a National Letter of Intent. Ito will join the Longhorns' men's tennis program in the fall of 2016.
"We have added a tremendous player and person with the signing of Yuya Ito," Center said. "Yuya is an All-America caliber player, but he is an even better person. He is an amazing student, as well. I could not be more excited about Yuya joining our program."

Ranked as high as No. 62 in the ITF (International Tennis Federation) world junior rankings, Ito collected his first ATP point at age 15. A veteran of the U.S. Open, Wimbledon and Australian Open junior championships, Ito has defeated several top-50 international players, including 12th-ranked Alvaro Lopez of Spain.
Ito boasts tournament titles at an ITF grade three event in New Zealand and an ITF grade four event in Australia.
