AUSTIN, Texas— Junior Brianna Taylor scored a team-high 16 points to lead No. 8/8 Texas to a 79-52 victory over Hampton on Thanksgiving Eve at the Frank Erwin Center. Senior Imani Boyette's 13 points pushed her career total over the 1,000 mark.

Boyette became the 38th player in Texas' decorated history to reach the 1,000-point milestone, giving her 1,009 for her career.

Texas (4-0) has had at least three players reach double figures in each of its four games of the season.
"It was one of those games that had some ups and downs to it because of the substitution patterns that I had, so I was pleased with some aspects of the game," Texas head coach Karen Aston said. "We were just working on some things that we haven't actually incorporated in games very much. We did some good things and we played everybody, which is good. I tried to rest some of the starters in the fourth quarter and I was glad we were able to get them some rest. We have a difficult stretch ahead of us."
Texas shot 47.7 percent (31-of-65) on the night while holding Hampton to 35 percent (21-of-60) from the field and scoreless from behind the arc. Texas out-rebounded the Lady Pirates, 47-34.
Hampton guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas led all scorers with 21 points.
Texas would start the game out with a 7-2 run before Hampton called the first time out of the game at the 6:22 mark. Texas would continue to press on, and a jumper from Kelsey Lang at the buzzer would make it 23-10 Texas at the end of the first quarter.
Hampton would try to rally back in the second behind the strong shooting efforts of Tate-DeFreitas, but a jumper would give Texas a 31-19 lead at the first timeout. The Horns would only allow Hampton three points, all from the charity stripe, in the last 4:42 minutes of the quarter. Boyette would record the Longhorn's last six points, hitting her 1,000th career point in the process and sending Texas into intermission with a 43-22 advantage.
The Longhorns continued to extend their lead in the third, outscoring the Lady Pirates 21-7 in the quarter. Rodrigo made back-to-back layups within five seconds of each other with the help of a Brooke McCarty steal to make it 55-24 at the 6:14 mark. The Longhorns would close out the third 64-29.
The Texas bench would take control in the fourth quarter with baskets from five different players. The Longhorns would close out the quarter and the game 79-52.
Texas will hit the road to travel to Knoxville on Sunday to play No. 4/5 Tennessee. Tip-off in Thompson-Boling Arena is set for 1:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
