Trio of Longhorns earn NCAA singles and doubles bids

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Men's Tennis seniors Søren Hess-Olesen, Lloyd Glasspool, and Adrien Berkowicz earned at-large bids to the NCAA Singles Championship, the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Subcommittee announced on Wednesday. Glasspool and Hess-Olesen also received a bid to the NCAA Doubles Championship as a duo.
Hess-Olesen makes his third consecutive appearance in the NCAA singles draw as the No. 6 overall seed. In the singles draw, Hess-Olesen advanced to the quarterfinals in 2013 and the semifinals in 2014. The Denmark native holds a 28-6 overall record this season, including 17 wins over ranked opponents.
Glasspool will make his second appearance in both the NCAA singles and doubles draws. He posted a 12-3 record a No. 2 singles this season. Last season, Glasspool lost in the round of 64 of the NCAA singles draw.
Berkowicz earns his first bid to the NCAA Singles Championship as a consistent force at No. 3 singles for the Longhorns. In just two years at Texas, Berkowicz has totaled 55 singles wins, including a 28-11 overall record this season.
As a doubles team, Glasspool and Hess-Olesen will make their second appearance in NCAA postseason play. The duo qualified for ITA All-America honors after advancing to the quarterfinals of last season's NCAA doubles draw in Athens, Georgia.
The singles (field of 64) and doubles (field of 32) competitions will be conducted May 20-25 at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas, following the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 14-19.
All matches will be the best-of-three sets. Regular scoring and a 12-point tiebreaker at six-games-all will be used for all matches. The tournament draw wills be released just prior to the championships.
As a team, Texas will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Championship in Austin, beginning Friday, May 8 against Navy (1 p.m. Central).
