WACO, Texas -- Lloyd Glasspool and Søren Hess-Olesen keep on playing.
The pair of senior All-Americans, who have grown to be best friends in their four years at Texas, defeated Oklahoma State's 24th-ranked Arjun Kadhe and Jakob Sude, 6-4, 6-2, on Saturday to advance to the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship.
"We are having fun with this experience," Hess-Olesen said. "We are relaxed, but still serious in the moment. We are best friends, so we just enjoy playing together. There is a lot of motivation to stay in a Longhorn uniform for as long as possible. Hopefully that lasts until Monday."
With a 4-4 tie in the first set, Glasspool and Hess-Olesen broke serve for the first time to take a 5-4 lead. The Longhorn duo closed out the match by winning eight of the last 10 games, including a 6-2 second-set victory.
"We are very tough to beat when we are focused mentally," Glasspool said. "We made a ton of returns, which made (Kadhe/Sude) earn every single point. Then we started to serve better and better as the match went on. It was a solid match overall."
Prior to Saturday's first serve, the match was moved indoors due to rain.
First serve for Sunday's semifinal match against Baylor's eighth-ranked Diego Galeano and Julian Lenz will take place after singles competition at Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. Singles competition begins at 12 p.m. Central.
Baylor's Galeano and Lenz are the third consecutive Big 12 Conference duo Glasspool and Hess-Olesen will face in the NCAA Doubles Championship.
"It always helps to have a scouting report on the guys you play, but as long as we play on our own terms we don't have to worry too much about the opponent," Hess-Olesen said. "That's what we did today -- played on our terms, and it worked to our advantage."
THREE STRAIGHT FINAL FOURS
For three consecutive years, Texas Men's Tennis has advanced individuals to at least the semifinals of the NCAA Singles or Doubles Championships. Chris Camillone and David Holiner were doubles finalists in 2013, and Hess-Olesen was a singles semifinalist last season.
