Last fall, in an effort to better understand and assist the fan experience, Texas Athletics conducted extensive fan surveys and focus group interviews, and the feedback was consistent and overwhelming.
Survey results from the McCombs School MBA Program indicated that Texas fans possess a strong desire for improved on-campus tailgating options. To complement existing tailgate activity, and to accommodate Texas fans, Texas Athletics is partnering with Tailgate Guys, an experienced vendor that provides first-class, turnkey tailgating experiences.
Traditional tailgating activity outside of the Tailgate Guys site does not change; fans are still welcome to grill and self-service their own tailgates outside of this site on campus and on the outskirts of campus. Texas Athletics understands the value of traditional tailgating, and is partnering with Tailgate Guys to offer new opportunities and enhancements to the gameday atmosphere -- not replace current traditions.
Tailgate Guys, founded in 2009 and already operating on campuses such as Florida, Auburn and Texas A&M, will manage on-campus tailgating alternatives beginning with the 2015 football season.
Many campus spaces historically used for football parking and tailgating have been repurposed for construction of the Dell Medical School. For the 2015 football season, the LBJ Lawn and surrounding areas will be used by Tailgate Guys for tailgate spaces, which may be reserved for the season or on a per-game basis. All tailgating activity inside this specific site is only available through Tailgate Guys.
"College football gamedays are fun and festive, and this unique partnership allows Texas to enhance our tradition-rich atmosphere," said Men's Athletics Director Steve Patterson.
All Tailgate Guys hospitality packages, designed to host 15-100 guests, include tents, tables and chairs. Media and TV options can be added to every package. Tailgate areas will be constructed on and around the LBJ Lawn, just steps from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Each reservation also includes one parking pass in an adjacent lot. Guests have the option to reserve paper products, utensils and coolers filled with ice. Full-service catering also is offered; Tailgate Guys spaces do not permit fire cooking and/or grilling.
Beginning July 6, remaining tailgate packages are available to the general public. Spaces may be reserved on a season or per-game basis.

"We are thrilled to team up with Texas Athletics and be part of this distinguished program," said Parker Duffey, president of Tailgate Guys.
