Charlie Strong, Shaka Smart, Roger Clemens and Colt McCoy appear in the new campaign spots.
Longhorn Network, ESPN's 24-hour network devoted to The University of Texas, is launching a series of commercials starring some of the school's coaches and most famed Longhorn Legends, including:
- Former Texas Baseball and MLB All-star Roger Clemens;
- Former Texas Football and current Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy;
- Former Texas Football and NFL wide receiver Jordan Shipley;
- Former Texas Women's Basketball head coach Jody Conradt;
- Current Texas Football head coach Charlie Strong; and,
- Current Texas Men's Basketball head coach Shaka Smart.
The spots, filmed in the scenic Hill Country outside of Austin, build upon the network's "All The Live Long Day" campaign, which launched last year. Each commercial captures the spirit of Longhorn Network and showcases its metaphorical home and transmitter tower -- dubbed The 41st Acre -- as the beacon for Texas sports, bringing together passionate Longhorn fans, UT spirit groups and legends. UT's campus is affectionately nicknamed "The 40 Acres," which is a historical reference to the number of acres originally allotted for the university.
Spots include:
- "Ranching," featuring Charlie Strong and Shaka Smart;
- "Dunk Tank," featuring Roger Clemens;
- "Pull" and "Drawing," featuring Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley; and,
- "Behind the scenes on The 41st Acre."
The campaign was created in collaboration with Austin-based agency Preacher.
