Ten Questions with Lauren Beard

Sophomore Lauren Beard selected 10 questions that fans submitted via @TexasVolleyball Twitter and Instagram to answer.
1. What is your best volleyball memory?
LB: The Final Four last year, because it was something that not a lot of people get to experience and it was a chance to play volleyball on the big stage.
2. What is your favorite holiday?
LB: It is a close tie between Christmas and New Year's. I just really like that time of year. I like Christmas, because it is a time that you can hang out with your family, New Year's is a time to hang out with your friends and you can celebrate two times in one week!
3. Why did you start playing volleyball?
LB: I started in fifth grade, because all of my friends played. I also did gymnastics, but in eighth grade I decided to just stick with volleyball.
4. What is your favorite part about this senior class?
LB: I think the senior class this year is very wise, because they just have things to say that are very insightful. They have all been to multiple National Championships and Final Fours, so they know what they're talking about when they give us advice or tell us what to do. They are super fun to be around.
5. Who is the funniest person on the team?
LB: The funniest is Morgan, because the way she talks is hilarious, but also Claire's sarcasm is hilarious. She also has a hidden dancing talent that is hilarious.
6. Why did you choose Texas?
LB: I was going to come to Texas whether I played volleyball or not, so it was the best of both worlds. I wanted to come because of the academics, but then I had a chance to play volleyball and I'm so lucky to be able to do both here.
7. What has been your favorite part about Texas?
LB: I like the huge fan base, the fans are so loyal and once you get out of college, you're still supported by people all around the country.
8. What's your major and what do you want to do with it?
LB; My major is government and I am getting a minor in Spanish. I plan to go to law school after college. I don't know what I want to do after that, but possibly looking into being a sports agent.
9. Do you have any pets?
LB: Yes, I have two pugs, Monty and Phoebe. Monty is blind and super old and Phoebe is super young. Phoebe will run up and start attacking Monty and if he can feel where she is, then he will fight her back, but if not, he will bounce around with nothing around. They both have really weird barks.
10. How do you take care of your famous hair?
LB: I use a great straightener, I use TreSemme shampoo and conditioner. I get it cut once every five months. When I get out of the shower I never brush it and that's why it gets so tangled and fluffy.
