AUSTIN, Texas – Former University of Texas women's basketball player Vanessa Wallace on Saturday was inducted into the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2016 at the Hurst Convention Center.
The Hurst-Euless-Bedford Sports Hall of Fame honors the individuals and teams who excelled in athletic endeavors and have positively impacted their community by recognizing their accomplishments and celebrating their successes.
The 5-foot-9 guard played in 107 games with 71 starts for the Longhorns from 1995-99. She led Texas in assists in back-to-back seasons in 1996-97 and 1997-98 and the 33.3 minutes per game she averaged in 1997-98 ranks eighth on Texas' single-season list. Wallace finished her career with averages of 8.59 points per game and 2.83 assists per game.
A native of Euless, Texas, and a graduate of Trinity High School, Wallace earned her bachelor of science degree in corporate communications and business foundations from the University of Texas in 1999.
Wallace, who currently resides in Chicago, has been employed by Nike since the summer of 2005 and currently serves as a Brand Manager-Basketball in the Central Territory.
