Women's Tennis shuts out Incarnate Word, 7-0

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas (2-1) won a pair of doubles matches to clinch the doubles point and claimed all six singles contests en route to a 7-0 win over Incarnate Word Wednesday afternoon at Whitaker Tennis Courts.
UT's 28th-ranked doubles tandem of All-America senior Breaunna Addison and sophomore Dani Wagland posted their second straight doubles win and dealt the Cardinals' Rachel Sadig and Victoria Kareh a 6-0 defeat at first doubles. UT senior Lana Groenvynck and junior Neda Koprcina defeated UIW's Taryn Strahl and Sarah Savedra by the same count at second doubles to nail down the doubles point.
Texas quickly stretched its lead to 4-0 to ultimately clinch the match before finishing off the 7-0 team win. Koprcina posted her third consecutive singles win and defeated Kareh by a 6-1, 6-0 count at third singles. Freshman Katie Poluta won her first collegiate match and knocked off Maria Batchinsky by a 6-0, 6-0 margin at No. 6 singles.
Freshman Daniella Roldan also posted her first collegiate win and defeated Strahl by a 6-3, 6-4 count at fourth singles. Groenvynck picked up her first dual-match win of the season and finished off UIW's Sarah Savedra by a 6-0, 6-3 margin at fifth singles before Addison registered her 19th win of the season and put away Sadig at first singles, 6-4, 6-2.
Wagland closed out the 7-0 Texas win with her 7-5, 6-1 victory over Matea Zemunik at second singles.
Texas resumes dual-match play on Sunday (Feb. 7, 1 p.m.) when it hosts UTSA at Whitaker Tennis Courts.
