Longhorns visit Houston next week to meet Rice.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas (3-1) took two of three doubles matches to win the doubles point and swept the six-match singles session en route to a 7-0 win over UTSA Sunday afternoon at Whitaker Tennis Courts.
UT collected doubles wins from its first and second positions to lock up the doubles point. Senior Breaunna Addison teamed with sophomore Dani Wagland to nail down a 6-3 win over the Roadrunners' Miriam Canudas and Jacobea Junger at first doubles.
Texas added a 6-2 win at second doubles from senior Lana Groenvynck and junior Neda Koprcina over Nicole Karaklis and Alena Shichkova.
Addison notched a 6-3, 6-1 win over Karaklis at first singles, and Wagland posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Junger at second singles. Koprcina made short work of Canudas and won by a 6-1, 6-0 count at third singles.
Freshman Daniella Roldan registered a 6-4, 6-2 win over Shichkova at fourth singles, and her classmate Katie Poluta notched a 6-0, 6-0 win over Charleen Tiwari at fifth singles. Groenvynck finished off the 7-0 Texas win with her three-set win over Lina Hallgren at sixth singles.

POST-MATCH COMMENTS
Texas head coach Howard Joffe
The score line of 7-0 suggests that we were the superior team. In the doubles, I don't know that we played particularly well. But considering we're only three matches into the season and that we have so many new kids and a new doubles team and new partners, we did fine.
I thought even though we played poorly in the doubles that we handled ourselves well in terms of not getting too excitable and at least making a match of the one we lost and coming back in the ones we were down.
In the singles, I was very impressed with us because in some of the matches we were able to assert ourselves. Even the last match, everyone was chipping in and pulling their weight. In the context of our team, it's another good step. It's another tough afternoon that gets us in a better position to take on Rice next week.
